2023-24 Monthly Events

We’re an all volunteer organization so the more people that can help, the easier it is, and more fun for everyone.  Below are the proposed events and some of the work that needs to be done to make them successful.

Month Activity Roles & Responsibilities
August Bike Rodeo – Get police / fire department to show up and set up event
– Put flyer in Central Newsletter to get parents / kids to join
– Organize the event — include how to ride a bike, bike safety, etc.
– Bring in vendors to sell bikes at the event
– Get ice cream for the event
– Work with cub scout recruiting team to collect signups
September Creek Cleanup – Monitor this website for updates for activities for coastal cleanup date
– Tell cubmaster/committee chair of event date/time
– Collect headcount of scouts that will attend
– Attend event
– Take photos
– Organize an after-activity (optional)

October Cub-On
– Register the pack for 50 slots on 9/1 when it opens up (Pay upfront & we will reimburse you)
– Collect money from familes / scouts that will be attending the event
– Take a headcount for those that will be attending event
– Take photos

November Thanksgiving Food Drive – Print doorhangers 1 month in advance (done for 2023)
– Distribute doorhangers at the October meeting
– Identify the charity that we will donate to (typically Samaratian House)
– Organize a set of parents who can drop off the food
– Organize a date to drop off the food (typically Friday afternoon)

December Snowball Fight – Call Nazereth Ice Rink 2 weeks in advance to collect snow for the event
– Find someone who has a truck OR rent a UHAUL (will be reimbursed)
– Drive to Nazereth Ice Rink to collect snow (usually around 4:30pm)
– Organize parents to meet at the Ice Rink to collect the snow
– Drive the snow back to Central and dump it
– Create a rope so that kids can throw behind it
– Shovel snow and break it up into smaller chunks
– Build snow targets for the kids to shoot at

January Snow Trip – Book a location for snow trip (typically Boulder Creek)
– Send out a reservation form to parents asking for dietary preferences
– Collect payment for the family camp activity
– Organize headcount for who will be attending, dietary preference, etc.

Feburary Pinewood Derby N/A – Will be done by Pinewood Derby team!
March Blue & Gold Ceremony – Book a location (usually Twin PInes)
– Organize Potluck
– Buy supplies / decorations for the event
– Do the Cake Bidding
– Collect funds from Parents
April Overnight – Find a location that we can host an overnight at
– Send out a reservation form to parents asking for dietary preferences
– Collect payment for the family camp activity
