Scouting For Food

Scouting for Food is an old Cub Scout tradition that takes places across the United States every year around the Thanksgiving season to gather donations for local food banks.

How is Pack 83 of Belmont involved?

Every year, our pack of scouts hit the streets of Belmont and knock door to door to gather food donations for the Samaritan House of San Mateo. Last year, our hard-working scouts collected over 900 pounds of food from across Belmont!

How can I donate this year?

This year, we will be collecting food on Saturday, Nov 14 and Sunday, Nov 15. We will be distributing door hangers the weekend prior on Nov 7 and Nov 8. Please place non-perishable foods in a bag or box on your doorstep prior to 9:00AM Saturday, Nov 14. Attach the door hanger you received or a sign saying “Scouting for Food Pack 83” so we know it is intended for us.

Recommended donations include:

  • Peanut butter or other nut butter
  • Canned soup or stew
  • Canned meat or fish (e.g. chicken, tuna, spam, sardines)
  • Canned fruit or vegetables
